I am sure most of you remember the touching story of Bonnie the cow. Namely after her owner passed away, the whole herd was about to be transferred to another farm when Bonnie felt threatened and decided to escape. She eventually ended up joining a herd of deer that accepted this scared cow as one of their own. This story quickly went viral and made people reconsider the way we look at the cows and other domestic animals.

The sad reality is that they are not really treated as living beings and farmers only see them as milk and meat providers. But cows feel the need to be shown kindness, because they have feelings and are not emotionless, unlike many humans.

Cows sense when their life is in danger; they definitely know when the time comes for them to be slaughtered for their meat, and most of them have no means to defend themselves.

Now we bring to you another story of a cow that decided to run for her life. According to ABC7 News, Brianna stopped the highway trafiic in New Jersey.

News Tribune informs that she was on the way to a slaughterhouse in Passaic County on Tuesday morning when she jumped eight feet from the truck and headed towards the highway.

Brianna’s story caught the attention of the staff from Skylands Animal Sanctuary who took her in and gave her a home.

Two days later, they shared with the world some good news. Brianna gave birth to a healthy calf. Maybe it was the mother instinct that made her opt for the great escape.
