Stray Dog Trembles In Snow

A whimpering stray dog had made a little bed out of a pile of snow. When it was fortunately caught on camera, it changed everything for him.

“He was curled in a tight ball in the snow next to an electric pole,” Natalie Thomson, marketing and digital communications manager for Stray Rescue of St Louis, a rescue organization told the Dodo.

It was after receiving a concerned phone call from a local woman that the Stray Rescue of St Louis sent out a search team.

“Her son had been out walking their dog and came upon this tiny, frail-looking dog in the alley,” Thomson said.

As soon as the rescuer found the dog, she took a video of him. He stares wide-eyed and is clearly worn out by exhaustion. The little dog is even crying, asking help to anyone who comes near.

He was named Weezer by the rescuers.

“This poor soul completely broke our hearts in two,” the rescue wrote on YouTube. “He was shivering and screaming in fear.”

He probably had no idea that he would soon receive his very first bed.

“He went straight to our trauma centre,” Thomson said.

After he had calmed down, a veterinarian came up to him and affectionately kissed him on the nose.

A thorough examination revealed Weezer’s traumatic past.

He was without a tag and microchip but had a large wound under his arm.

“It looked as though he had been wearing a harness or a rope at some point in his life that was too tight and became embedded,” Thomson said, “Although when he was found he wasn’t wearing anything.”

As Weezer took a much-needed rest, his rescuers worked to arrange a foster home for him, where he could finally be happy and free from his past.

Weezer was lucky.

He found a loving foster home where he’s discovering how it feels to be loved as a family.

“His foster mom spends time cuddling on the couch with him. He loves to burrow under blankets on the couch with her,” Thomson said. “He has even been going to work with her and meeting lots of new friends at the office!”

Thankfully, Weezer is brave and putting his traumatic past behind him. Once he’s completely ready, he’ll be put for adoption, ready to give a brilliant second chance at life.
